Hi there, the last couple of HOT days, when I got into the car, the outside temp gauge was reading 27.5 deg C, after driving off and releasing the clutch pedal to move off, its started to make a somewhat loud "Creaking" sound? as if something wants oiling, like its pivot?, but after the air con has cooled the car's interior down a bit it stops making these noises

Anyone had this problem? is it safe for me to get out the 3in1 oil can or does it need to go back to the dealer to be examined? I don't want something to break, it does sound like a creaking plastic sound as if something is stressing slightly as you can also feel it though your foot?

This sounds very similar to the problem I had in my CC from new, and seeing as a lot of VW/Audi share parts from the same parts bin, the soultion will probably be the same.

    Replacement pedal.

But you may have to argue the point.
This first time I had the car in they loaded the pedal bushes, joint and piston with white grease (and all over the carpet too).
The problem dissapeared but it came back after a couple of months.
It was in and out a couple of times but it became one of those "No problem detected" jobs. Even after showing the service staff the problem when I booked it in.
I was eventually fobbed off with "A notification has been raised with VW" but after a clerical error meant that my last car was booked in for a service it came to light that no notification was raised and a replacement was fitted to avoid embaressment.

You may not have the same experience with Audi Service though.

Spoken with Audi Service, they have heard of this problem before, he said they might have to change the Clutch Master Cylinder? Can't see why that would make this sort of plastic creaking noise? most strange, its only started to happen because of the last couple of "HOT" days, the problem goes away after I've driven a few miles and had the air con on to cool the cabin down, so its obviosuly a heat expansion problem?

Not sure if this is related but I've noticed that my clutch pedal feels quite lumpy when being released. This only happens when the car is hot but its fine first thing when its cold. I might take the car to be checked out - does anyone know if this may be a sign of a problem?

Well I had arranged to take the car into the Audi dealers to have a listen to this creaking sound, drove off driveway to find that the sound had complety gone!! So thinking theres nothing for them to hear drove back home. Car has been outside stood in the sunshine, dam me at 2pm I sat in the car and the creaking sound is back!!!! So this confirms its related to cabin temp after the suns been shining for a few hours, therefore will have to return the car to dealers after work while the sound is still present, sounds like it might need a replacement Clutch Master Cylinder as they told me greasing it doesn't work. Most odd?

    Well an update...

As I wasn't at work today, I took my Audi A4 to the dealers, drove it there in the heat as I didn't want to put on the air con lol. The technican took one look at it and said "yes that be your plastic "Ball Joint" need greasing", so he agreed there and then to take it into the workshop and grease this ball linkage. Well at present the noise has gone.... We shall wait and see if it returns later????? I was well impressed with thier effencience at sorting it there and then and not having the bother of booking it in and getting a loan car.

Had the same problem with mine that started about a month ago. I can feel a sort of vibration and judder through my foot when releasing the clutch pedal. On one very hot day it was very creaky for about 5 minutes then went quieter when the interior cooled. The missis took it to the dealers and strangely enough the problem vanished that morning and re-apeared that evening!!!! Going to have to take it back on a hot day and leave the air-con off on the way to the garage.

    Mike.

Yep thats just what I had to do, drive the car with the climate control off, ie no cooling or air from blower, demonstrate problem to technican and hopefully there sort it for you mate. They just greased mine, the guy seemed to know exactely what the problem was, he said something alone the lines that Audi use plastic Ball Joints on the clutch pedel which expand when hot, and they weren't greased in factory at assembly, they greased them and the problems gone!!

Hope you can get yours sorted out too?

Think I might try greasing it myself first if thats all they did to yours to fix it. If it doesn't work then I'll take it to the dealers and then get them to sort it.

    Cheers Mike.

If your cars under warrentry, I would let the dealer do it, because I thought I could do that, but the parts you need to grease are right up inside and they said something about removing the kick panel to access it, I was unsure how that came off? I didn't want to break anything so I left it to them?
