i have used redex but not in my passat so cant comment about negative effects - im currently using forte treatment at the moment as its meant to be really good when used in a double dose to aid cleaning your vane ring

Not sure exactly how it aids cleaning of your ring.. (oh er.) but lowers emmissions enough to get most cars through the MOT test.
Works best if added directly to fuel filter.

I have only used it about twice in my current 02 PD car, haven't really noticed any difference, but the car is running well.
I used to use it on a 1999 TDi Passat i had a few years ago.
The car had got really smoky under acceleration.
But after a treatment of redex it totally cleared it, so I am convinced by it's effectiveness to that extent.

My best recommendation for these TDi cars, is a good hard Italian tuneup every so often, keeps em nicely cleared out.

I've been using it for years both the petrol and diesel versions. On almost every diesel I've used it on the improved fuel economy has paid for the redex after just the first fill up.

I always thought Millers Diesel Sport was the additive of choice - has this been surpassed by Forte/Redex now?

I've always used forte on my taxis - gets the emmisions down on the 406's and TDis for the MOT a treat.

Millers is a mix of cleaner and cetane booster the forte is aimed purely at cleaning the whole fuel system and also post combustion elements are also cleaned supposedly ? I will be back to using millers as soon as I run off this forte as it cant be mixed millers does make the car run alot better when used regular its like using vmax but at a fraction of the cost

I use Millers also, have found it great stuff.I had a problem with sticking turbo vanes which was putting my car into limp mode.I gave it a double dose of Millers and in no time my problem was cured.I use it on a regular basis now every time that I refill as directed and the motor runs a treat.
