Recently inherited a set off Audi alloys from a friend who said they came of an A6. Was going to get them refurbished but was wondering if how to tell if they're genuine Audi alloys or not.

I've enclosed a couple of pics of front & back. The back has a few numbers on it but nothing that looks like Audi part no.s

    Thanks

    Side Note:
Car is currently fitted with standard alloys with Continental 225/50 - 17
'New' alloys are fitted with Maxxis MA-V1 225/40 ZR18

Is this a worth while upgrade considering its going to cost me £54 per wheel for refurbishment or should I sell them & go for 19"s

I'm no expert but they don't look genuine - my A6 has genuine 18" wheels and the tyres are 245/40/18...

Yeah, I know the tyres aren't original as my friend uses them for track days but he assures me the wheels are standards off an Audi A6

If you have a full spare wheel, does yours have any markings inside that you can see that would identify them as Audi wheels.

    side note for others:

If you're using these wheels, what trye size are you using?

Is there a VAG part number on them? It may be on the front.

Hey there, re the alloys, I don't think they're genuine, usually there's a part number stamped on the rear where you see those markings you show in your pics.
Either way, they're nice replicas ( worst case scenario )
Rather than spending, £220 to get them refurbed, why not do it yourself?
It really is much much easier than you think.....see my thread below for how to c/w pics

I have given details of the correct Wurth paint that you'll need ( a little more expensive than run of the mill stuff but soooo worth it )
Once you've mastered how to do this, you'll never waste another £200 or so to get it done by someone else AND you'll have have product left over in case you have any close encounters of the Kerb kind in future

    Just a thought!

Thanks Jim but the whole wheel will probably need painted (on all 4).

Still debating wether to offload them & go for a set of 19" instead.

Cheers anyway & good job with yours.

    Magic finish.

Hey mgcgill, if you have to do the whole wheel, even better
Much much easier to get the best finish, albeit harder work if that makes sense.
By the sound of it you're not too keen....but if you do decide to do it and need any advice / help etc please feel free to contact me at any time. I'm probably not far from you in Cumbernauld

    Hi,

I'm fairly certain your wheels are replicas, not Audi OEM wheels. The wheels you have are the "7 double-spoke" design, but these are only fitted as standard to A6 Le Mans editions, which are always 19". The fact that your wheels are 18" is the first clue that they are probably not Audi A6 originals, although 18" versions are now fitted to A3 S-Line models so they may still be Audi OEM wheels.

The second clue is on the reverse of the wheel. On my car's OEM wheels, the part numbers are stamped around the centre hub on the back of the wheel, not along the spokes like yours. See below for pics to see what I mean:

    Regards,
