Audi has start stop, lower band C tax bracket, xenons but looks a little dated and is replaced early 2011. Golf has rear reversing camera and looks more up to date. I just can't decide

Any ideas?

The golf looks like a bit of a whale in comparison.. definitely the Audi.

the audi definitely then! Theoretically the audi A3 is a dressed up Golf.

I managed to hunt your A3 down on the used audi site.

...the car doesn't have heated front seats.

In audi terms what your getting by looking at that image is;
The S-line Black edition. It's a package implemented for 1.8 models and above. Saving money by grouping the following optional extras together. Bose sound system, black inlays, tinted windows, black matt finished front grill+fog light surrounds, Xenon lights with the LED. In addition to this to make it a more exclusive package they also added titanium dark alloys and flat bottom steering wheel.

Other extras you have got on this car, monza silver paint work, I think it's the audi symphony CD player by looking at the image. Make sure you check this with the dealer if you haven't viewed the car yet. The symphony player is an integrated 6 CD player. If its CONCERT player its only Single CD/MP3 and Radio.
As for the USB connection can't tell, as its in the glovebox. Same with the storage pack.

All the other features are standard to this A3 model. So this is a run down if your interested on the cars optional extras.

Also, did you know VW are bringing out a supercharged 1.4 POLO GTI this summer? Now that does look hot!

as mentioned, over the GOLF I would go for the Audi.

I'd assume the Audi would have a residual value when you come to trade it in.

IMO the Audi interior quality is better than the Golf.

Hi All

Currently got an a4 2.0tdi s-line 2008 plate on contract hire. its going back in August and i am in the same dilemma as we have another child on the way so my wife will take my next car as she has a 58 a4 s-line spec edition cabriolet which wont be practical for 2 kids whilst she is on maternity.

I have been looking also at the golf gt tdi 140 vs a3 sportback black edition and i am going for the Audi too. The Golf, whislt a mk6 just looks too common and a bit bloated. The black edition with all the nice extras will be a better car.

Any opinions welcome, not trying to hijack this thread.

I'd say the Audi. Problem with the MK6 GT is that it doesn't look all that special over the standard Golfs unlike the MK5 model which did.

I would say a GTD is closer to the Black Edition but not sure how much these cost.

The flat bottom steering wheel and xenons on the Black Edition would swing it for me to get the A3.
