A6 1.9 TDi 130 oil change

Hi there,

I am about to change the oil on my 2003 Avant. I've heard talk about longlife and fixed oil change regimes – what's the difference, how do you tell what your engine is? And should you use different oils? Do you tell by VIN number?

Also, what's the sump nut size, and how many fixings are there to get the undertray off on the A6 - assuming that's the only realistic way to get to the sump nut!!!

What's the oil capacity on this engine?

Oil should be at least 505.01, The newest oil is 507.00 (For DPF's) (Not really necessary on the AWX engine).

Oil filter socket required is 76mm, 14 flutes -

Do not use an oil filter wrench.

buy a vacuum oil extractor and suck it out the dipstick tube, then suck the extra litre or so out the oil cooler under the filter.
