    OK so I have an 05 Audi A4 2.0tdi estate 6speed / 140bhp.

All was well until I towed my 68 beetle to Cheshire and back (8hr round trip) on a large trailer for its restoration. When I got back I noticed the car was lacking power and smoky at low revs, thought it was because I had given it a bit too much of a workout and fuel was low, so I refilled with optimax v-diesel and then instead of getting better the emissions light came on!

Went to my local bosch diagnostic place who plugged in the fault code reader and it came up with:
    P 01 01 # 07E8.
    Mass or Volume Air Flow
    A circuit range / performace

Easy I thought, so I replaced the Mass Air Flow meter with a new one (Bosch remanufactured from German & Swedish). Got the emissions light turned off at the garage and all seemed well (drove better etc) but then 2 days later I thought performance was getting a bit more sluggish and then the damn light came on again!

I went back to G&S and said the part must have been faulty, they gave me another one and I got the light turned off again. All seemed fine until two days later the light is on again - and it is driving me mad! It definitely seems to lack power at low revs / when cold etc. Its marginal, not critical, but I dont want to leave it as it is!

So, assuming its NOT the MAF sensor (as its been replaced twice), can anyone help with what else I can check?

    Thanks

    Matt

    Hi Mate,

It could be somethin simple like a split vacuum pipe with any luck. Check all your vacuum pipes, especially at the ends where they push on to the relavant components.

Thanks Auds2, I will do just that! I was thinking I might have split a hose or pushed one off somewhere with putting the engine under load for that long period of time.....

Hi guys, im new to the forum. I have a very similar problem where my engine management light is on but my car is slightly sluggish nothing noticeable. i have the following fault codes P0101, P0402, P3102 which is the MAF sensor, EGR valve and what the last one is i cannot remember.
Being concerned about it i researched online only to find procedures on cleaning the EGR valve and manifold.
I took 5 hours today in taking it all apart cleaning it up and putting it back together. took it back to the garage who reset the codes. after driving it for about an hour the light came back on.
Im really lost because i don't want the lifetime of the engine to decrease if the EGR valve is F****. i cleaned the MAF sensor which made no difference.
Im thinking of replacing the MAF sensor but i believe it wont solve the issue as my car is running as normal. Prior to this situation i had serviced the vehicle approx 5 days before and also changed the air filter to a pipercross panel filter which i purchased from AMD techniks. Any help on this would be valued!!!
