Passenger side climate control blowing hot, drivers side ok

Hi, my 1.8T quattro has just started to blow hot air from the passenger side vents, can't adjust it, the digital display works ok, the drivers side is fine.

I assume its an air distribution flap/motor problem, if i remove the glovebox will i be able to see what's going on (or not as the case maybe) If i need a new motor/actuator can i just connect it up or will it need setting up? Cheers.

go to address 08 and reset default values via output test and basic setting, if this doesn't sort the it then disconnect the motor and swap with another and reset the basic setting and then swap it back and again reset the basic setting.

Ok, thanks A8 tech, i assume that its a VAG COM job then, or can i get the default values via the aircon display?

Its booked in at the main dealers on friday to have a 4 wheel alignment done, do you think its worth getting them to have a look at it or could it cost big£££££££.

I am capable of changing the motor myself but i do not have vag com, if i change the motor will i need to have it set up?

To save you removing the glovebox... here is a view of the left hand side of the central heater matrix housing on my B6...

Do you know what each of the 3 motors on this side do please a8?

I had a little play about with the aircon buttons whilst I had the glovebox out (engine running of course).

I noticed that the bottom one (connected to the red levers) doesn't budge when I hit the footwell airflow button. As you know, I've had a few problems with that.

Am I safe to take the motor off and attempt to move the flap manually - or will all manner of springs pop-out all over the car?

Just out of interest, any idea how much the motors cost?

swap the motors then re set basic setting and the motors should move.Then swap them back and reset basic setting again as the motors go outside there operation voltage (stick in other words) once they move the control unit calculates the voltage open/closed and then allows them to reset as its very unusual for them t fail but they just lose there calibration and the suggested fix normally fools the system back into action

Ok a8tech, sorry to sound thick but how exactly do i re-set basic settings, i do not have vag com, would an audi dealer do this for me or would they want to just change the servo motor?

How much roughly is a new motor and if a new one is fitted does it need setting up?

Yes vag com or dealer vas 5051b can reset the basic setting and its best pratice to reset after fitting a new motor, as for cost for a new motor I dont have any prices avaliable to me at present.

Right, cheers a8 tech, so if i tell yeovil audi the problem and ask them to re-set basic settings, they should understand without ripping me off for a new motor sraight away. Any idea for the cost of this? Thanks for your help.
