Hello everyone, first post but been watching over the site for some months now. I know this is more a financial query but here goes !.
I am at a point where i know what i want ( S-Line Avant TDI 120ps) have obtained what i think is a fair price from an Audi dealer but the stumbling block seems to be financing the purchase. I can potentially offer up to the full deposit (40%) on a PCP but the salesman will not deviate from an APR of 10.1% citing that they are set APR rates - has anyone had any experience if this is correct?. So near yet so far at the moment, any help/advice recommendation greatfully received.

    Andy

Audi is offering 8.9%APR on their website. When I "enquired" back in April, I was quoted 9.5% over 3-years but it was not something that I was interested in.

I would console yourself with the fact that you have got a good deal on the car or forget about dealing direct with Audi and get the car via Lex, MasterLease, ALD Autochoice or other leasing companies that will provide a more competitive APR and a decent discount.

Personally I chose to stick with Audi as it made everything simpler as I was coming off a prior PCP so just needed to drive my old A4 in and came out with a new one.

    I got mine at 7.9%

Just told the dealer that I had another quote at 7.9 and if he wanted the business he needed to match it.

I didn't really have to fight that hard - it was a last part of quite a hard negotiation

Well my Audi 3.0L TDI SE with all the toys, retailed new would have worked out at around 45K But I got it for 28K with just 82 miles on the clock and put in 7K cash, the remainder 21K is on an Audi PCP for 48months @ Ł399 per month with 2 years free servicing from Audi and break down recovary with a final ballon payment of 8K at end of agreement or I trade it back in?

You really must have bought ALL the toys because that's pretty much the same retail as my S4 was! And I thought I'd bought a lot of toys

Of course you can never have too many toys!

PS Can't help with the PCP question as I bought my car outright but I was watching some old car ads from the 80's recently (youtube is full of them) and there were ads on there for cars at 26% APR or more!

bought my A4 3.0TDI SE last week, leather, satnav,B&O sound, for 26k - june 09 with 25miles on the clock. only put Ł500 down but paying higher monthly of Ł460. 2yrs free servicing as done thru audi finance.

I normally go 48months hire purchase but it means I can walk away and hand back keys at 33months. (subject to condition of car). I have option to pay final balloon around 8k but I can't imagine me keeping a car for 4years !!

i've done this for the past 6years, and buying nearly new, and trading in every 3years or so, with little or no deposit. Not for everyone as you have nothing to show for your money at the end, but hey with current depreciations on brand new cars it makes financial sense.

this is the most I've paid per month, mainly because i've gone for pretty much brand new this time, normally go for 5000miles+

if you find nearly new its worth looking at www.car-finance.net as they do a low cost finance option - works out well on nearly new cars, especially ones with good residuals, BUT you are resonsible for the balloon at the end.... =refinancing or px ..

ps Wakefield Audi had one 3.0TDI left - pretty much same spec, listed around Ł27900 i think but reckon theyd take Ł25500 if lucky. you have to do your own homework on finance before you go shopping, cos you'll need to wave the figures at the dealer to get them to match....
