    Hi,

I've just brought a 06 2tdi sport estate. The car came with warranty from A1 approved. Reading the manual today it states for the warranty to be valid the car must be serviced every 6 months!! Which is very helpful with vw long life servicing!!! Not!

Anyone had any dealings with them? Doubt i'll be extending it

    Cheers

And if you stick to the letter of the policy they will still refuse 99% of claims, I absolutely hate dealing with warranty companies. Most only cover mechanical breakdown, not wear and tear so to be covered a part has to physically snap. One a few weeks ago refused to cover a Golf 5 with a broken engine block as they blamed the bolt and they don’t cover fasteners, fluids and consumables. I even had stress with the AA’s approved people last week, told me to get a new turbo sorted for a car and when I called them to finalise details they changed their minds and said it was too much! The customer gave them hell and they gave in. Gits, all of them, there should be a change in the law over these crooks…

I would not bother with the warranty. My 2.0 tfsi sel on 06 plate has been a joy but, vw warranty ran out June, then the cat went in August. I think cars are probably designed this way. If I had extended the warranty it probably would have been fine. Garage gave me a new one at half price but still fuming that it only lasted three years (catalytic converter not the warranty). I was thinking about replacing with CC or R36 but I now have a sour vw taste in my mouth and will probably look elsewhere.

Just to give another view. I had 6 months Warranty Wise cover when I brought my s4. I wouldn't have paid for it myself but it was a nice thing to have in the deal from an independent. These guy's selling feature is they cover wear and tear. Any how the car lost coolant a month later. Took it to Audi who diagnosed the secondary rads. The warranty claim went in by Audi and the warranty settled up with a cheque a few weeks later. Only problem was a cap on the labour rate which was about half main dealer, but after some haggling Audi did the job for the lower rate.

So it goes to show not all dealers and warranty companies are out to rob you blind...... I still wouldn't pay for a warranty out of my own money though. The way I see it if you look back and tot up all the premiums for all the cover you have taken out then what you have had paid out I would think most would have paid more than they have claimed successfully.

I wouldn't disagree with that, but it applies to any form of insurance.
