hi guys a quick one not sure on how serious the problem is but seems bad

i started my car other day like normal and low and behold the brake pedal was rock hard stiff as if id pumped the pedal with no keys in.

i decided to take it out and see if it sort itself out and found what my non-expert feel was the car had gone into limp mode..no power etc

now i know my front brake warning light has been beeping at me for a few weeks and gatherd that its them that need replacing pronto now

could this be the reason the brake pedal is stiff and cars in limp mode?

    help greatly appreciated

    thanks in advanced

    Sam

It may be your vacuum pump has failed and the valves required for Turbo etc are not recieving vacuum,so going into limp mode.

You need to get the car read for fault codes, either someone with vag com or a garage. Only then can you attept to determine the cause of limp mode. More than likely it will be overboost or underboost code. When you get the code post it up and you'll get a better chance of what can be eliminated.

Unlikely to be brakes related tho. Get a front wheel off and check how much pad you have on the inner pad, you'll be able to gauge how long you have left on them, but aim to replace soon.
