Anyone retrofitted the auto lights function?

I have adaptive bi-xenons and DRL lights (which turns on automatically with the ignition), but when it gets dark I have to turn the knob over manually (as well as when I stop the car I get annoyed by the beeping), and even more annoying, I have to turn it on and off in every tunnel around if I want to see the speed I'm going at, which can be quite annoying here in Norway with tunnels all over the place.

Is it just a question of replacing the light switch, adding a light sensor somewhere and do some coding, or is it more complicated?

There are guides around, but you need the auto dimming mirror as well as it has the light sensor in it. Unfortunately this mirror has a different boss connection to the windscreen so you would need to change the windscreen as well...

Not cheap... I was going to try it but decided not to. I have the switch if you want to buy it off me. PM me.

One thing you can do is set up the cluster via VAG-COM so the needles are always on, or the full cluster panel is always on.

As you have your headlights on all the time, I would go for the full cluster..

if you need to codes, let me know.

    Interesting!

I'm new to VAG so I haven't gotten VAG-COM yet. I do however have a lot of stuff for diagnosing and coding BMWs. Maybe the OBDII cable I use with the BMW interface can be used for VAG-COM directly to the serial port on the laptop..?

Can the xenons be coded to be always on as well?
