The emission warning light came on today, & has stayed on. my 1.9S Passat I contacted my local VW garage, but they can't look at it till Monday next week. My dilemma is that I'm due to make a look 600 mile trip before that, the guy in the garage said it should still be ok to drive as long as the light stays solid & does not flash. Can someone please advise, should I postpone the trip?

Lots of garages can do a quick scan for fault codes. If your worried, why not ring round to find one that can scan it now. Then you will have an idea why the light is on.

Have you just been driving local journeys recently? Could be the diesel particulate filter blocked!

    Hi,
Not really, I use it mainly for motorway driving, but as the car only had 15K on the clock (07 plate) when I bought it a couple of months ago, its probably worth checking out.
    Thanks

Hi!I had same problem with mine Passat 2.0 tdi after VW garage replaced tandem pump, they have to disconnect air flow sensor from the air filter hose.after they put everything together they did not connected it properly.so it was loose!check if is loose and if it is just press sensor and problem should solved itself if is not that so probably is one of the lambda sensors.Good Luck

Digging up an old thread. My brother went out in my car this morning and te same light came on. Recently had the clutch and flywheel replaced so mechanic could have knocked the cable loose. Conrad83, do you know where the air flow sensor is under the bonnet?

This used to happen on the Skoda's with the 1.9, if the car still ran fine, 99% of the time it was the coolant temp sensor causing it, if it has no gut's, it should be a simple pipe that's come off/got a hole in it, hth.
