    Hi
    stripped my passat
    took doors,
    bonnet
    boot
bumpers etc off for colour change!

Now it's built up the airbag light won't go off

    any one no what's happened?

Should I have stripped it a certain way?

    Please need help asap, thanks

    I'm intrigued. Why?

It's possible that an airbag was disconnected and the ignition turned on - that'll screw it up if you're, say, changing the stereo so in this case, it could be the same. It's a dealer (or VAGCOM) reset I believe though...

Just a reset needed no big deal, doesn't even have to be main dealer or Vag-Com, most competent mechanics these days own good scanners such as Snap-On etc. Probaly charge you about 25 quid for a reset!
There's a fine line between genius and insanity!

No DEFINATLY not, no airbags was disconnected,

All windows come out, (gone back in today)
doors come off (so got unplugged from b post and a post)
    bonnet come off
    bumpers
and boot lid and loom removed from inside it,

the only two things that need refitting are boot lid, bonnet and bumpers

why would the airbag light even come on if I didn't disconnect or go anywhere near them?
    I'm confused

and thanks for the promt replys

will follow with pics of the car

it will come on if the ignition was turned on with any part of the airbag system disconnected, i'm guessing here but maybe a collision sensor in the bumper or door?

even if everything is now reconnected and working ok the light will stay on until it is reset by someone with diagnostic equipment - your dealer or someone with vagcom or a similar fault code scanner.

so you need to get someone to reset it and then start the car again, if it comes on again then you do have a problem but if it stays off after you reset it then all is now well.

Depends on the dealer really, but I reckon £20-30 should cover it - if it's a simple error. As stated above.

What are you doing to your Passat anyway?
