MMI 3G Sat. Nav. Voice Prompts Timing

Flippin' 'ell. No wonder Sheffield Audi went all silent on me, after having being so chatty earlier, with what seemed like fortnightly phone calls, giving me updates. They probably know the stupid thing still doesn't work! I feel for you... and I feel for myself. If I'd've sat down in their boring cafe area, drinking complementary Tango and eating a badly warmed-up panini for several hours, only to find this, I would've gone mental...

Amateurs!

Any thoughts on whether it will be possible to get the factory version installed? I mean... if it works, of course... why bother if it doesn't.

It could well be they simply haven't got the SD's yet. My dealer had there's on back order so it got done asap.

I'm gonna try and find if the factory version is a light at the end of the tunnel .... but I'm sceptical.

I set my nav settings to factory, then set back to 3D view, knocked voice commands down one notch and tested it.

I'm going straight over a roundabout (2nd exit).

I'm just straitening the wheel to peel off for the exit when instead of saying "take the left" or something like that it says "take the second exit". I was well past the previous one.

What a genuine shame this hasn't been fixed. Destroys any faith I had left.

After more examples of recreating the issue, I've just called my dealer to update him. He was actually under the impression that this issue had gone away. He's going to let me know when the current factory software version becomes available to dealer to do updates with.....but I suspect we may hear from A8 Tech first

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread as I too want the latest software. I'm having problems with my ipod resetting the DIS and I can't rule out a software problem and have experienced the 'take the second exit on the left' ''guidance'' - although to be honest at busy junctions I use the map display to see where I want to go as I prefer to have that in my head before I get to the junction.

So took the car to the dealer today and my software version (HNav_EU_P0054_D1) is the latest (there was an update for cars with B&O - Scotty I'm guessing that is your version). So no update to maps nor resolution for my music / mmi resetting problem as there were no faults either (which in itself is reassuring I suppose!)

p0054 is a factory release only and there is no current network update for this version, only 2011 models support this and again your dealer can not update to this version at present

I have no specific issues with the MMI 3G satnav on my A4 Avant, other than its limited functionatliy.

I have a Garmin Nuvi which does 2 things the Audi MMI does not, ie enter a destination on the map, and full postcode search, the latter surely being a 'must have' now with the technology being so mature.

So I am underwhelmed, though the system seems to work okay when you get the correct address in.

Just move the cursor when you've got the normal map screen up. This will then let you move around the map. Select where you want to go and press the MMI controller and set it as the destination.

You could do it on 2G too but then you had to faff with the horizontal and vertical controls. 3G gave you the cursor thing on top of the MMI controller for exactly this purpose.
