My 3yr 10 month old caddy (58000 miles). has had catastrophic gearbox failure. The dealer tells me that the crown wheel has gone. vw will not help with this problem. I feel this is unfair. Has any body had this problem and if so how was it resolved?. I cant afford a new gearbox!

It is out of warranty after all, it is nearly four years old! Warranties used to be 365 days to the hour and that was it, I have memories of this in 1981 with a late 79 Ford Fiasco 1300S and a head gasket failure at 1 year and 1 week and they would not entertain a warranty claim due to the 17 year old muppet thrashing the **** off it but warranties are now 1095 days and you want a 1400 day warranty, if you and others get that, what is next 5 years, 6 years, 7 years and then where? If you want a 7 year warranty Hyundai offer such a feature.
