    Hi,

I am brand new member and I have a question.
What are my options to add a usb port on my RCD-310?
I would like to use the controls on the steering wheel and read the song titles (ID3 tags) on the screen.

I am looking on a cheap solution (or I will change the whole RCD unit!)

    Thanks in advance,
    Theo

    Welcome to VWAF!

You could fit the VW MDI or a Dension Gateway 300. I'm currently running a Group Buy on another forum for Dension equipment and could get you one at a favourable price, no problem shipping abroad.

    How's Malia?

Malia is quiter than other years but still it's crazy

Please send me more info about the group buy (forum, price etc.)

Will I be able to see the song titles? I read that it's connected through the cd changer port so I suppose I will only be able to read Track*** names

Either way, I would like to know about the price you are getting it and if possible any instructions on how to install it (complete noob, this is my first car!!!).

These allow you to see tracknames on the highline DIS if you have one and control the iPod/USB device using the wiper stalk/multi function wheel.

As I already told you I am a complete noob!
I only need to add a usb port on my RCD-310 which came stock with the Highline Golf VI.

    I don't know if I need the gateway 100 or 300 as I don't know their differences.
    My only requirements are
I would like to use the controls on the steering wheel and read the song titles (ID3 tags) on the screen.
    EDIT:
I have been recommended the product below which is very cheap and it has SD card reader as well.
Do you know if I will be able to read the song titles from the RCD-310 screen?

I'm not sure if that device will or not. From the Dension range I posted above you'd need the Gateway 300 GW33V21 which would bring up track names on your RCD-310 screen and offer full control via the RCD-310 for iPod and USB devices.

Asked for the Kufatec device i posted above and it's not showing names, so I will buy the dension 300.

How can I find more information about the group buy?
Forum based, where are the money sent, delivery time, postage costs, etc?

A local shop offered me the dension 300 for 220 euros installed.
    Now my dillema is:
Buy it from the group buy and try to install it myself or have it installed tomorrow for more €65 (if the postage from the group buy is free, which is unlikely).

I would really like to install it myself but I am afraid that it might be difficult and result to damage my car! Do you have any installation instructions? Suppose your local pharmacist (I am a pharmacist ) wants to install it, do you think he could do it?
Are there any special tools required?

Lots of thanks for your help here!

The Group Buy is through me, postage to Malia may be more than £7.99 but I can check for you 220 Euros installed isn't so bad however you can install it yourself, it just plugs straight in and needs no configuration. I'm sure my local pharmacist could do it
