    As I could never find how difficult it was to change the Cam belt on the 1.4 Polo/Lupo engine, I thought I'd put a note here.

    I'm a DIY mechanic - with exactly average ability and tools.

    Basically it was easy. The 'Special' tools needed are a pair of 8mm drill bits!! these lock the cams in place. You need a std socket set, a 4mm allen key and the 6-point tool for undoing the undertray thing and a jack/stands.

    The only hard part was undoing the crank pully bolt - jeeeez,...

    It took me a gentle 4 hrs. I think the book says 1.9 hrs.

    You will also need to do a google for a .pdf that has the instructions on it. Its called something like Lupo AFK timing belt replacement.

    finally, you can double check your work by turning the engine over by hand. Check everything still lines up. That way you shouldn't make an expensive mistake before you start it up!

    Can you remember what size torx socket it is for the crankshaft bolt
