Hi there, any advice would be much appreciated.

I'm pretty sure I need a new throttle body for my A4... tried cleaning several times.

Anyway, I think I read somewhere that if a new body is fitted the car won't start until it is programmed. So does this mean getting a garage to do the work or forking out for VAGCOM?

    Many thanks!

Hi, Just had my replaced on my 2.5TDI.

Check the VAG number (on housing casing) and look on net for one if I was you, I got a lot of replies from salvage places and bought one for 40 quid delivered.

    AUDI quoted me 270 + VAT.... :~(

Def needs resetting, any VW specialist can do it, I cant afford the 90ph VW AUDI charge, my mechanic charges 45 plus VAT.

I have links to breaker websites....

    Cheers

    Thanks for that...

I've found one on the net for about £80 but the car's getting on a bit and I don't know if I can justify that plus the resetting charge.

I was hoping the resetting would just be the throttle adaptation which my car seems to do if I turn the ignition on with the bonnet open???

    Thanks again!

Thanks Bez, I've not actually read any fault codes yet. My car seems to have the same problems as other people on the forums who also have faulty throttle bodies (the car jerks and kangaroos on very small throttle openings).

I've already cleaned it out (which did correct the idle) and I've used a new gasket and replaced a few of the vacuum hoses.

I'm prepared to try a new throttle body but I guess what I'm really asking is will the car not work after it is fitted until it is reprogrammed on VAGCOM (or will it just run roughly until the ECU relearns the settings)???

I'm also assuming it is some kind of variable resistor that has worn rather than the throttle itself... is it possible to replace or repair this part???

    Many thanks again!

Thanks for all the help everyone.

Can anyone give me a definitive answer before I buy a new throttle body?

Will a reprogram from VAGCOM be necessary to make the car run or will it just require an adaptation if it runs rough?

    Thanks!
