i have a 05 1.9tdi golf c.l and have the same problem, so i brought it to vw and they said it needed a temp sensor so they relaced that and its still doing it. so rang them and they then told me it probably needs a new high pressure pump, i asked do you mean an injector pump and they said no its a different one and it would cost around €700 for the pump alone !!!!. so im not getting that done till i get more info. i wonder is it something to do with the ecu????. or is is it the car uses some different program to start when hot compared to cold??? it has to be something simple the was never like this when i got it first. ill try to find out more and repost,or if anyone else has any ideas please post thanks

    hi,
sorry to say this but this problem will never be fixed i have had to give up now after being £1800 out of pocket any way i would take my hat off to who ever comes up with the cure but one thing i have found out is that when you unplug the temp sensor with the engine hot the car starts straight away like being cold so may be that rules out crank sensor

    hi,
oh no nothing wrong with the timing vw said you cant get the 2 pins in together any way what are the 2 locking pins there for then ??
any way they told me they re done the timing any way dont know why if it was ok may be they needed the money ?
and next the temp sensor is just to the left under the air box if you follow the top rad hose you will see the connecter hope this helps but i am so ****** off with this car with a rough idle still and poor warm starting some one knows how to fix this .and i might even offer out a reward to get my car going smooth to some one
