    Hi guys.

Probably been asked many times but i've just bought a 2.0 tdi S-Line on a 55 plate and want to change the oil, what type of oil do i need ?

I have read about Diesel Particulate Filters, how do i find out if my car has one ?

Last one. In the owners manual it states a few times "do not use fuel additives". Is it ok to use injector cleaner ?

    Help please.

    Thanks

    John.

Yes 5w/40 fully synthetic. I have the same model on a 55 plate and use Castrol Edge. I have used an additive as from experience the idle is generally lousy on these engines.

I just had my car serviced by Audi and they gave me a topup bottle. Just to make it nice and easy I have attached a pic of it so you can find it easily

Mine is also the B7 2.0TDI (140) so seems Audi say you should use 5w-30 not 40...

I have a B7 2.0TDi (170). I topped it up 6 months ago with Castrol Edge 5W30. The bottle said 'as recommended by VAG for long life servicing'. I then had some warranty work done a few weeks ago and local Audi garage kindly gave me 1litre of Castrol SLX 5W30. Guy in garage said that 5W30 is essential for long life service intervals.
My car definintely has a DPF (that's why car was in for warranty work ). Service book and manual both state that when a DPF is fitted oil MUST meet VAG spec 507.00 which both of the above do.
I think I read somewhere else on this forum that a 140 does not have a DPF but to be honest I haven't a clue if that is right or not.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the advice. Gone for Mobil 1 5w/30 fully synthetic ESP stuf, new filter and sump plug from the *******, £55 in total. These DIY services are getting more expensive.

    Hey,

I'm going to do an oil change on my 170 2.0 diesel BRD with a DPF. Just did a search and was wandering if it is necessary to change the sump bung every time you replace the oil?

Also what oil should i use for this engine. After doing some research I was going to use a decent brand 5w30 fully synthetic. Is this correct? the car has been remapped and is on short term servicing.

Is it better to go audi to get parts or will a reputable internet sellers sell the same quality.

    Many thanks
