Ok chappies, any help or input is greatly appreciated.

The oil warning lamp flashes whilst motoring, any speed from 20mph to 70 mph and doesnt go out, the only time it stops flashing and beeping is when its first started and idling, as soon as i take off it goes again, flash beep flash beep like a blinking alarm clock. The car runs fine, isnt using oil or water, it keeps its temperature at 90'c, and pulls like it always has, it just this bloody light keeps flashing and beeping.

Ive ordered up a new oil pressure sender unit so it should be here tomorrow, ill post up when its fitted to let you know if its fixed or not. hopefully its not too serious.

    Cheers, andrew900

It has two oil pressure switches, one white and one brown (now blue), usually both on the oil filter housing but on some models the blue/brown low pressure switch is in the side of the head. The white one is responsible for oil pressure monitoring over 2000 rpm. It may be that the switch is faulty or that it is telling the truth and that the oil pressure is below 1.8 bar over 2200 rpm. I suggest a proper oil pressure check if the new switch fails to rectify the problem.

    Nailed it -

It turned out that the cause of the problem was the oil filter.
id got an oil filter from Hawco Vw Inverness but it was the wrong one, got another filter from highland motor parts and the problem was solved - its to do with a pressure valve inside the filter.

Lesson learned and no harm done thank goodness. On the plus side i have two new oil pressure sensors too

thanks to everyone who gave advice.
