    Hi all,

Not been on the forum for a while!
My 2002 63K Allroad is getting the belts + tensioners replaced on Friday by A for Audi Glasgow.

also having the tiptronic oil and filters changed.

after much deliberation I have decided to get it remapped aswell.

Should make towing a little easier - might even forget I am towing anything.

will report back once the work is done - if anyone is interested.

    Hi

Keep me posted. Keen to find out about a4Audi as they'll probably be doing work for me too.

What type of Allroad do you have? P or D?

I'm thinking about getting my 3.2 quattro done but have found very little out there from owners who've had it done.

    Thanks

best thing to do is look at http://www.viezu.com
then click on find a dealer. You will find power tune scotland which is in glasgow. Tell them that Darren from APTuning sent you to them (another Viezu dealer). I'm unsure if they offer a money back guarantee or not but if they do, you can atleast have your car mapped and try it for a few days, then if you dont like it take it back and get your money back. Worth a try if you are unsure about remapping.

    Hi Ross,

A for Audi are very efficient and will look after yout motor!

My car is a 2.5 tdi Allroad that now thinks its a Porsche - especially after the remap.

A totally different car altogether. I had the oil replaced in the 'tiptronic' box, all belts, water pump, tensioners replaced and the remap.

Trouble is the car goes so much better, that since I had the work all done at the same time i do not know which work has been/or provided the biggest/best advantage.

Any how, all of the work required doing and I feel as though I have a better car - very responsive, very quick and better gear changes - noticed the gearbox temp moved close to the 120 segment, will keep an eye on this and report back.

    Happy motoring!

    Paul

    Hi Paul,

I have read your post with interest as I also have an Allroad 2.5tdi tip and was considering a remap. Do you mind me asking the cost of the remap work and did this include any re-programming of the gearbox ?

I live very near to Kim Colins Quattro Sports in Haywards Heath who have quoted me £750+vat for the MTM remap but have advised tiptronic vehicles also need a gearbox re-programme to cope with the additional torque. The gearbox re-programme is an extra £250 plus vat !! They quote an approximate increase of 15% in both bhp and more importantly torque, and say that the car is far more driveable, with more power available from lower down the rev range. I'd be intersted to know how this compares to the work you had done both in terms of cost, output figures and general satisfaction.

Have you considered upgrading the sway bars at all, I have read that it makes a big improvement to Allroad handling without compromising ride quality.

    Thanks

Hi there, Nothing against Kim colins as they do very good work! But as you are only in brighton I can offer you the same type of remap and of course not forgetting the gearbox side of things all for £450! If this is of interest to you then give me a shout on 07930410102,

Had my 1998 2.5TDI A6 Avant done by ChippedUk in Bromsgrove and went like a dream for a month. Beware that a remap on an older car like mine will bring to the surface any wonky bits which hid under a 'muffled' lower tune.

For example, an intermittent MAP sensor didn't cause limp mode until after the remap - the low manifold pressure readings it was giving fell within tolerance before but fell out of tolerance after remap.

An elderly EGR valve bit the dust with the increased boost pressure but hey, it was 10yr old. Blowby of the mechanism pierced the diaphram with telltale sooty deposits around the vent holes.

Finally, the intercooler hoses were replaced as they delaminated and became like teabags! - the 'outer' rubber layer separated from the 'inner' (there is a fabric layer between them). Seemed like breaches on the inner layer inflated voids between the layers and punched through the outer. Old hoses get tiny 'pinholes' if you examine them under a magnifying glass. Serious pressures in those hoses after a remap!

Please don't get discouraged. My car is now the Alton Towers ride of my dreams, just be prepared for any underlying faults to show up when you remap. Any responsible remapper won't cause those problems, it's the remap itself that reveals them.

    Regards,
    Ivor

    Hi,
the costs I paid for the work is as follows: belts/remap/tiptronic oil change and new filters - always get the filters changed £935 - the remap was reduced from £350 to £250 because I was having so much done, and they know I have a Golf 4motion that will be getting the belts and a remap done soon. the remap is fantastic a totally different car, probably the car it should always have been - very, very fast, smooth gear changes. I do not know if the gearbox was remaped I will need to check with the garage - if they did they did not charge. must say it is driving brill at the moment but will be putting a full report on the forum next week sometime.

    what is a sway?

    kindest regards

    Hi Radix,

The C5 Allroad 2.5tdi in std. factory setup is rated at 180bhp (or actually 180PS) with 370nm Torque.

I think I'm correct in saying that re-mapping and re-chipping are essentially the same thing, but with a re-map the original existing vehicle ECU is reprogrammed whereas with a re-chip additional or different electronics are added.

MTM are approved by Audi in Germany and they require full details of the vehicle including engine number. 'They say' that a unique ECU programme is then generated at HQ for each vehicle and sent to the dealer in question for uploading onto the vehicle.
