    Hi,

I've got a 2005 VW Golf Plus 1.6 FSi, and had it since new and only ever serviced at VW centre. I was looking through the handbook prior to starting a long journey, only to find that there should be:

    a) can of gas (for puncture repairs)
    b) 12v air compressor

... both of which are missing from my boot.

Can anyone tell me if these items are both standard accessories, or has my local VW service engineer blagged them and punted them on eBay?

Also, if I need to replace them with originals, can anyone tell me where I can source such items?

    Cheers!

Do you have a full size or space saver spare wheel? if so they would not be in there... they were only for vehicles that do not have a spare wheel.

Nope... I've just got the emergency 'skinny' wheel.

There's even the space where both missing items should live.

I guess then that it has been blagged... any ideas where I can find replacement OE parts?

That sound right then... if you have the spacesaver wheel you will not have the other...

The compressor is for cars like mine that do not have a spare wheel of any description...

    OK... cheers for that.

Guess I'll just buy myself a new compressor... the Ring RAC600 looks pretty decent for the money.

Stu... just wondering. Was the inflator thing an option? I.e. when new, was there an option to have the inflator or a spare wheel, whether it be space saver of full size alloy?

Reason I ask is because I walked away from buying an A2 about 4 years back due to there being no spare wheel whatsoever.

When I purchased my Seat, it cam as standard with a repair kit/compressor, you could get a space saver spare wheel as an option for abot £35 instead of the kit.

    Cheers Stu.
Hopefully I'm right in assuming that the space saver or alloy spare is an option (albeit at a cost), so not every car has just an inflator.
