    Hi,
    I have a 99 A4 Avant and I want a spare key - EASY - I hear you cry!

I have trawled thru so many forum pages I now need my eyes tested!!

I have a 3 button "Flip Key", I have a part No from the inside of it
4DO.837.231.A off a green label. There are other numbers, but nothing that looks like a frequency.

Any ideas where I find the frequency?

I think I saw a thread that said that "A" suffix was IR not RF, but this is not Infra Red.

    Can anyone please help?

    Thanks in advance

You've got the most important bit of info already, the part number.

the frequency for the remote you're mentioning is 433.92, but any dealer or parts supplier will not need that, as long as you quote the entire part number as you've already posted.

Any 2 or 3 button flip keys with the following part numbers will work on your car:

    4D0 837 231
    4D0 837 231 A
    4D0 837 231 B
    4D0 837 231 N
    4D0 837 231 R

Only keys from the USA and Japan use a different carrier frequency/modulation.
