I have an '05 A4 Avant S-line and may have stumbled on a way of cleaning milky roof rails and window trims which I thought I would pass on. I have been hunting high and low for a product that brings the brushed aluminium alloy trims back to life and previous threads on the subject have drawn a blank.
Whilst cleaning the rubber window surrounds with Autoglym Bumpercare (which is a green gel) I accidentally got some on the aluminium window trims. As I wiped it off I noticed how clean it left them. I tried it on the roof rails and it seems to work wonders with no effort.
The milkiness comes back in about a couple of weeks but hey it's better than nothing!!

I found that a small amount of WD40 on a soft rag or tissue does a great job. Rub it on the trim only then buff and wipe of any that goes onto body.
