Hi i have a problem wiv my golf ,it was running fine untill a few weeks ago when it started missing then about a week after that its stopped firing on 2 plugs the 2 on the left spark but the 2 on the right dont?
I pulled all the covers of the dash and had a look behind the fuse pannel there is a lot of corrosion where water has leaked in there and the was a few large wires going to the relay pannel that i had to remove and clean up also there is a black box up under the dash with 2 plugs going into it that i thought was the keycode or alarm but even when thats removed the car still starts and runs on 2 cylinders. ive also changed the coil packs the plugs all the relays checked all the earths and replaced the sensor on the cam that i think is like a crank sensor? i can get the other 2 sparking if i connect a wire to what i belive to be the coil trigger wire from the working coil to the coil that dont spark
Some one told me that the problem was the ignition amplifier/module but i cant seem to find it any where and the most worrying thing is i brought a fault code reader and i get all of the following...p0407, p0443, p0141, po135, p0123 and p0zzz with the errors wiring short to earth, fuse short to earth and ecm wiring short to earth.
I was thinking about replacing the ecm next but have been told that my key would need to be reprogramed to it that i allready spent 90 quid on a few months ago when i lost the keys and had to buy a new set
has anyone had these sort of problems or does anyone know of a fix
    thanks for any help

Hi i dont think it has one as ive learned i have the coil on plug system and i think the pulse trigger comes directly from the ecm my engine code is 1214 its a 2002 model, i have look further into the fault codes and its saying the maf sensor has a fault also the lamba sensor and recirculation valve are comming up in the errors too and throttle sensor positon, I think the ecm may be in safe mode but have been told it will fire on all four still instead of just 2 and my revs will be limited to 3000 but it revs up 7000 no problem

    thanks

Ok thanks i have checked the codes and they all corispond to the parts that have been changed but im still getting the same errors?

Im starting to think that the ecm maybe dead also i cant find any ignition amp ive traced the wires back from each coil pack and there is 1 wire from each pack going directly into the ecm and the rest go to the fuse pannel behind the dash, Im gonna go to the breakers on monday to try and find another ecm does anyone know if they are all the same or if there is a code i should be looking out for thanks.
