I just picked my Passat 2.o tdi S DSG yesterday. OK, I would have preferred an SE or Sport but it was a good deal and a good car. I'd like to upgrade the RCD300 stereo but seem to have opened a can of worms with all the variants out there. I found this about the MFD2:

    7H0 035 191x ... Multivan/California / Touareg
    1T0 035 194x ... Golf V / Touran / Passat Mod.06
    1K0 035 193B ... Golf V Passat Mod.06 with TV Tuner
    1K0 035 193D ... Golf V with TV Tuner
    1K0 035 198 A ... Golf V / Golf Plus with DVD (doesn't play CDs)
    1K0 035 198 B Golf V / Golf Plus with DVD (will play CDs)
    1K0 035 198 C Golf V / Golf Plus with DVD (will play CDs)

Then there's the RNS 510 or the minor jump to the RCD 500 or............?

Here's my wish list......keep in mind that I don't want to spend a fortune and have a tomtom unit and a Parrot unit I could fit.

    - Play MP3 and regular cd's
    - CD changer would be nice but not critical if I can play MP3's
    - Bluetooth phone support would be very nice. Not sure if my Nokia 8800 Arte has this direct SIM access stuff I've read about.
    - GPS. Very nice but not crucial. Not sure if the lack of 7 digit postcode access would just be a pain......probably would.
    - DVD player and TV. Really not essential but would be nice if I was going to be paying for a big screen anyway.

Is there a unit that does all this? If I forget about GPS and watching DVD's i.e. no big screen is there a better solution?

I'll look into upgrading my 2 crappy speakers later!

    Thanks!

eBay would be a good place to start as an OEM VW unit would be hideously expensive.

Alternatively try here - http://www.caraudiodirect.com/ for ideas. Personally, I got mine from here - http://www.caraudiogiant.co.uk/

I'm not sure DVD and TV would be something you'd want as you would only be able to watch while stationary and you'd be looking down and squinting and all that - but if that's what you want - an eBay double din unit might work for you.

If you forget about DVDs (Not sure why you'd want that) or GPS (TomToms are dirt cheap these days) then you'd do worse than mine :

Transplanted easily from my Passat to the new Golf too

Forgot to add - the Parrot kit that I had in the Passat worked a treat too - Also, for the unit I've got I can get a plug in module that gives me Bluetooth for that stereo that'll work seamlessly. All in - cost me about £220

Thanks for the info. Your unit looks smart. Do you know the model number? Did everything in your other post come with it or were some extra? Other than the adaptor cable.

Erm - Adapters.... Check the thread linked above as you'll need the fascia, fakra and canbus adapters (from memory).

    The model number is DUZ388RMP - http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/clar...mp-p-6472.html

Does iPod full control, MP3/WMA/AAC CDs, USB and more besides. The sound is a huge improvement over the OEM stereo without needing to change the speakers.

You will, however, want rear speakers
