I'm trying to locate the fuel temp sensor on my 2000 Passat 1.9TDi auto. I can follow the fuel pipes but I'm not sure what is what? Can someone direct me to a diagram so I can locate the correct connector, please?

You've got me there, Crasher. The engine is the 85kw (115bhp) model. As for code? Tell me where it is and I'll find it.

ATJ or AJM. As it's a 2000 I'd guess ATJ.
Nothing to see here, move along..

The fuel temperature sender is next to the fuel filter on the return line from the head pump.

With every respect, Crasher, I retired 12 years ago through ill-health and haven't stuck my head under a bonnet since. Now, when I open the bonnet, I'm a little confused. Please bear with me. I understand all the principles of an ICE but the engine layout of modern turbo diesels leave me somewhat confused? I humbly apologise - I can see all the fuel pipes leading from the fuel filter (or what looks like a fuel filter as I used to know it) and I can see many other pipes, metal and rubber. All I am asking is for a 'picture' or 'diagram' of the engine compartment so I can follow it to find the fuel temp sensor.
25 years ago I could have probably lead you through it inch by inch - sorry, it's cm. by cm. now, isn't it?
    Like I said, no disrespect.

I have pictures but I am not allowed to post them, forum rules. If I had a matching car in today I would take a picture but I don’t have one in today. Hopefully someone else who owns one will take a pic and post it. Two questions though, why are you looking for it? You aren’t fitting one of those stupid tuning devices are you?

Yes I am. You obviously don't think it's a good idea? 'What Diesel' seems to think it's not such a bad idea? I appreciate their running costs are probably governed by advertising but if it gives me better performance and economy surely it's worth trying?
