I have seen them make a difference to emission readings on petrol cars so these cleaners must do something. Lots of people claim that their car runs smoother when they have used one. Personally I have never noticed any difference on a diesel car.

Tried it (Redex) on my clio when my mpg was slowly dwindling. Made bugger all difference.
A service later and it was back to its best.
The Redex carburettor cleaner does work, however. Makes a big difference to cold starts. (Still not great though.)

I would fill up with some high octane fuel instead and save yourself a few pennies. that will clear out any dirty injectors just as well as Redex. Buy yourself a small bottle if you like for a few quid and test it, it shouldn't do any damage. Then you can decide for yourself.
Then a good old service with oil change, filters, spark plugs (petrol?) will make a difference too.

I've used Redex, Millers and Forte in my 130 diesel - not all at the same time I hasten to add, but over a period of the last 18 months. Redex and Millers boost the cetane rating, and are supposed to clean at the same time. Forte is supposed to just clean.

Whether they actually 'clean', is in my view inconclusive, so I think it is difficult to catergorically say 'yes it's worth it'. I do alot of high motorway driving, so it gives chance for the engine to get hot and burn off any excess crap lying about, and many forum members promote giving the 130 engine a good thrashing at least once a week to 'clean it out'. Probably more relevant if the car is driven on shorter town/A road journey's.

If you don't go on many long hot mway runs, then Forte is supposed to be the best at cleaning. When I used the Redex, I found the car ran much smoother had a tiny bit more power. The millers doesn't seem to do alot with my car.

The PD engines are very efficient by design, as the higher injector pressure improves atomisation resulting in a cleaner burn, so are less likely to need cleaning when compared to other diesels.

    My two penneth anyway.

Using "super-Fuel" - V-Power Diesel or BP Ultimate Diesel will make a difference over time - that's from my experience, not just the sales blurb by the way!

I think I would agree that Millers does not help much compared to theses (why did I just buy a new bottle yesterday?)

If you have a petrol car (with variable valve timing at least), V-Power or Tesco 99 do make a BIG difference to regular UL and I use them exclusively. The benefits grow over time.
