I have a intermittent engine related vibration which happens sometimes at idle. It appears that the engine is missing or partly missing on one cylinder. I 've just completed a 2,000 mile round trip through France with injector cleaner in the tank but no improvement.

It has been checked out by the local VW garage - nothing showing up on the diagnostics.
Does anyone have any experience of a similar fault ?

    Thanks

yes, i have exactly the same problem. Under warranty VW have replaced the clutch and flywheel but still haven't been able to sort the problem. Have you had any luck?

No joy so far in fixing this. Personally I'm convinced the problem is a misfire on 1 cylinder, probably due to fuelling/ECU/Sensor. The engine runs fine otherwise but it is very annoying to have an engine that occasionally is so lumpy at idle.
It has also been diagnostically checked at a local VW/Audi specialist, again nothing fundamental showed up apart from a sensor showing some out of limits results. I shall replace this to see if it makes any difference.

My Golf GT TDI was lumpy on idle but i started using BP Ultimate Diesel and over 1000 miles the lumpyness vanished ! Sounds odd but it worked.

Wife had a Touran that did the same but never bothered her that much so we left it and then eventually sold it.

I then bought the wife a Seat Altea 2.0 TDI 140bhp SPORT (same engine) and this had the same problem. It would also intermittently lose power (as if the Turbo was not working) whilst accelerating through the gears. (i.e. Pull away in first - fine, into second - underpowered and bellow black smoke, into third - full power again!!) The final problem was an intermittent extremely lumpy idle (especially when started from cold), which had to be looked at.

RESULTS - My local indy scratched their heads then spoke to a contact at the Main Audi Dealership and they said with all problems like that on the 2.0TDI, they just fitted new injector seals!

I had the job done and its been fine ever since!!!!
    Hope this helps.
