Hi I drive an Audi A3 and my clutch was heavy for around 6000 miles until the clutch went this morning during peak time traffic on a busy roundabout. New clutch £250 + Vat. Good job I had AA membership. Might be an idea to get it checked as AA chap said that a heavy clutch is usually a early warning.

    Good luck

The clutch work hardens in use and this makes it feel heavy/stiff. It can go on like this for along time. If you want a lighter clutch you have to fit a new one. Because this creeps up on you slowly, you often don't notice until you drive another car and then come back to yours.

Some vw have cable operated clutch. The cable can fray inside sleeve making it very stiff. Have taken them out and lubed them, sometimes works well.
