I am confuse by the many bits of info flying around as to if a 12V switched supply is available on pin 15 of the Quadlock connecter to the Radio on a new Golf MkV. It is for the pupose of powering a Parrot ck3100 hands free kit.
Elsawin pin asignment shows 12v switched on pin 15 and 12V (battery safe) on pin 16 which matches up with all the wiring and quodlock to ISO converter, but contradicts many people's statements that you have to run a 12V switched supply (cig lighter socket for example) to power the car kit, as it is not available on the radio. (I have not pulled the radio yet to check with a multimeter) but I would like a difinitive statement so I can have all the bits prior to starting the job.
Any experiance or help appreciated. Thanks Richard

there is not a switched live from the back of the radio. I checked this with a meter when i installed my phone kit. You have 3 options. 1. Feed off cig lighter. I did not do this as it seems to stay live for a period after turning the car off. 2. Find a switched live in the fuse box. 3. If you have dual zone climate, pin 20 is a switched live. I checked this with a meter and use with 100% success.

1st question to golfgttdi have you a multican fitted , and steering wheel button for the phone.

    Any pointers please.
as a side point you do not need the switched supply at all with the addition of the multican (fine if the b***dy thing would work correctly)

    Richard,

I read your query on the Parrot site. IIRC you do need the switched live, otherwise the Parrot will act up. This is the orange wire on the CK3100 wiring loom. There is no switched live available at the radio. All you have is two permanent live supplies, one of which is marked "SAFE"because it is supposed to be part of the alarm or radio coding system (pin 16). Permanent live is the red wire in the Parrot CK3100 wiring loom. Don't forget that you need an earth, which I think is pin 12, but check this to be sure.

Take a switched live from the cigarette lighter or from a fused supply directly at the fuse box at the end of the dash, under the panel visible with the driver's door open. To avoid the need to fiddle about behind the fusebox just find a spare fuse position which reacts to ignition switching (using a multimeter) and stuff a blade connector into it, making sure (of course) that you have a fuse in line on the cable. Don't ask anyone which fuse number to use or try and read the owners' handbook because various trim levels and model years seem to have slightly diffferent fuse assignments. Just find a free fuse with a multimeter. Alternatively, you can get to the cigarette lighter by removing the gear lever trim. It is dead easy on your DSG, don't take it all the way off, just lift it up for access. Use a multimeter to figure which cable to scotckblok into, don't rely on cable colours becuse they are a bit confusing (e.g. the earth is brown).

You also need to connect all of the relevant yellow MUTE cables to the correct place on the radio. For the radio speaker connections don't try to be too smart and wire anything in parallel, just snip the cables and pass them through the relay box on the Parrot. Note that it does need an awfully long push on the steering wheel button to terminate a call, otherwise it drops into HOLD mode. A final thought - if you have the CANbus low (green, pin 9?) and high (white pin10?) connected the wrong way round it will get seriously confused, so it might be worth checking these again. The pink K-Bus cable is not connected to anything.

Just wire everything up according the the Parrot instructions http://www.parrot.com/documents/en/s...multicanvw.pdf and all will be tickety-boo. Try this arrangment, it should work.
