i have just bought a 05 plate sharan 1.9 pd tdi sport and there is a slight burning smell from under the car at the back passager door. there is also a noise like a pump running for a couple of mins after the engine is turned off from the same area. can anyone please shed some light on what this is and if it is normal for this to be there as it is still under the warranty from me buying it.

i don't know about that. when i put it on to cold air(low) it blows out the back but when i put it on hot air (high or any temp) it stops blowing out air from the back vents.

could someone with a working aux heater please help clear something up for me.

when i start the car from cold and on the heater control select hi temp air comes from the front vents there is also air comes from a vent behind the middle row of seats on the back of the wheel arch but i can't get any air to come out of the 5 roof vents ( when hi temp selected). now when i select low temp i can get air out of the front, vent behind the middle row of seats on the back of the wheel arch and the 5 roof vents but as i increase temp you can hear a valve of some kind shut and this then stops the air going to the roof vents. is this normal or do i have a problem.

    This normal.

The roof vents only give out cold air NOT heat. So when you turn up the heat the front vents, the one behind the handbrake on the floor and the rear passenger ground floor vent give heat.

When you turn doen the heat the roof vents allow cold air through.
