Hello all ...I'm new here, Just bought an LT35 2.5 tdi

But...are they all this slow or is it just mine, I bought the van without trying it (yeah I know !!) but I trusted the guy to be honest as he was a fellow biker.

Anyway on the drive home I just thought where the **** is the power!!...being no stranger to vans and driving Renault master tdi's at work the LT just seems really slow

It was that bad I removed the hoses to check if the turbo was working (it is by the way) so I am at a loss what to do .....should I book it in for a diagnostic check??

Another thing that concerns me is the speedo total mileage has re-set to zero....according to the previous owner he fitted a second battery and split charging system and after that for no apparent reason the speedo just re-set ....I am new to later VW's... but am I correct in thinking that the system can shut down into "safe mode" and run at a reduced power level?? how will I know if it is.....does anyone think this could be the case

    Any info' will be welcome

It depends on what you define as slow, i have a LT35 TDI 95 bhp remapped to 125.
It was not slow before but really flies now does 100 flat out!

My last van was a Transit 100ps a nicer drive but did not feel as strong as the VW.

No they're not that slow. Ours has always been really torquey and pulled strongly, (up untill last week when the cambelt snapped!!!) . I guess it really needs a diagnostic check, could be any of the hoses and pipes leaking. I believe that the MAF valve ?? is also prone to problems but its a relatively easy repair (if you have the diagnostics).

Try unplugging the MAF (air flow meter) next to the air filter if it's no different then buy a new MAF from GSP cheap as chips around £30 for copy they work fine mine went like the clappers after that. Don't work about the flashing glow plug light it will go when you restart the engine after plugging it back in.

wow ! thanks for the quick replies chaps.

Regarding the maf sensor, the van starts and ticks over great...I thought if it was shot there were symptoms like lumpy erratic tickover etc?...but I will try unplugging it cheers.

Easy thing to do is to replace the MAF not to dear or if you know someone else with a working 1 to swap it for testing purposes. I'm sure they are only £30ish i did mine and it flew.

VAG COM will not read this van ans it has a special round Diagnostic Socket it shares with the Sprinter.VAG COM has OBD Connector. Ive a LWB version and its plenty fast for its size.
