I can't work this one out. I have a 56 Reg 2.0 TD A4 and when I start it up, on the headlight switch is a small red illuminated dot at the top of the switch which flashes. It doesn't flash regularly, more like an intermittent connection. When I turn on the side lights or headlights, the red dot goes out and doesn't come on again until I start the engine the next day.

Anyone know what is going on here

    Thanks

    Ian

This has been bought up before but with no definite answer, I suggested an automatic light check the car does, any audi techs on here know the answer?

    Is a bit strange though...

    Me too.

I have exactly the same sympton. I have only just noticed it and had assumed in was a loose contact somewhere. As long as the lights still work, I was planning to ignore it.

    Hi all,

The little red dot on my light switch has just started to flash, some times it stays on but more often than not it starts to flash once the engine has been running for about a minute, It use to stay on constantly and has just started to flash.

    Hi,

This hasn't happened to me yet, so I can't check...

Someone with the problem should get their car hooked-up to VAG-Com to get the lighting module / blocks read. Surely there'll be something logged in there?

    Good news,

Little red dot on my light swith has been sorted, under warranty .

My local Audi dealer changed the whole light switch cluster, looks great in the dark as it used to be.

Just thought I would spread the news.

Hmm.. I guess the little red dot should only be lightly illuminated as normal and when something is wrong with the switch's illumination, the red dot flashes to warn you that it's not displaying the headlight & fog-lamp status properly?

Did Audi confirm what the problem was?
