Hope this is the right place, Ive got a mk3 golf 1.8 cl Auto. its a 97 P Reg 1.8 cl Auto 75k.

Now its never had a problem and this morning, 20 mins into my 30 min daily commute, it starts taking ages to change upto 4th gear.

Then... at the lights the revs drop right down to just above stalling. sometimes it does stall all together.

Same happened on the way home, fine cold... but after about 20 mins same thing. ITs getting pretty dangerous on the roundabouts as its nearly stalling and when i do hit the accelerator it nearly stalls... really frustrating/Dangerous

    Any ideas?

Does the car run ok otherwise? Apart from the 4th gear problem, no misfiring/hesitation etc?

Could be a faulty engine temperature sensor. Best thing to do is take her to a garage and get her cheched out on the diagnostic machine.
