I have a 2003 GT TDI 130, and for some reason the Multi Function Display doesn't show the remaining estimated mileage in the tank. I wasn't aware that it was supposed to show this until recently when I was waiting for the OH to come out of a shop, and so started reading the manual. It woud appear that most other people do have this option. I know it's not totally reliable, but it's going to annoy me if I don't find out why it's not in my display.

I have access to VAG-COM if it's something that can be adjusted in there... though would appreciate a pointer on 'how-to'

    Thanks

I think the Golf Anniversary had this and maybe the R32 and Bora, but I think it's because these models used the Bora instrument dials. All the Mk4 golfs we have had in our family have never had the "miles to empty" screen in the computer.....

depends on the cluster you've got fitted, some simply need the eeprom editing to enable it. if you're unlucky, you'll need to retro fit a later cluster.

Thanks. Sorry for the ignorance, but what's eeprom?

The eeprom (electronic erasable programable read only memory) is the chip in your cluster.

IIRC your cluster needs to be an imobiliser 3 type, you need a VAG Tacho cable and software.

Google it, theres loads on the net.

I did it on my 2002 1.8T Bora but couldn't do it to my mates 2002 v5 Golf.

I am quite interested in doing this to my 2003 Golf as I find it useful on our Audi A3. If you get the "miles to empty" function set up would I lose any of the programs I already have with the computer or does it just add it on??

    Hi

I have a Mk4 Golf Tdi 150 2003 plate and my one does not show the range - which i find annoying - can you use something like VAG come to edit it or is there an easier way

    Thanks

You need VAG-TACHO as stated above to reflash the EEPROM in the cluster.

Again, cheers... I can borrow a VAGCOM cable from a mate. Someone else has asked in this thread - will reflashing the ROM chip wipe everything else?

VAG-COM and VAG-TACHO arent the same product, You cant run the VAG-TACHO program with a VAG-COM cable.
