    Hello guys,
I asked this question in a previous post with some feedback but was asked to add a photo.I have recently bought a 2000(W reg) passat se 20v turbo.I have looked all over my car for a multi disc changer,in the bootspace, under seats, glovebox etc etc and cant see one anywhere. The reason i am looking is that it says cd changer on my dash console and has 6 buttons for each disc,When i insert one disc it plays but cant insert another ,when i press button 2 for example it says no disc so i presume there is a multi changer somewhere. In my previous post people stated it may be an in dash multichanger with a load button on the console and asked me to put up photos to help me out so here they are.
Any feedback or help would be great,

    Hi,
The select button on the left of the Cd player changes from player to changer. The preset buttons on the radio then select the disc in the changer.
I reckon that there is no changer fitted. The usual place is in the boot on the left.
What happens when you select changer?
    Best,
    Frank

    Hello Frank,
When i press select the little light above cd skips over to cd changer then skips back to cd.I looked everywhere for a cd changer or evidence of one being in the car(bracket, cable etc)But couldnt see one.As i mentioned earlier when i press the number buttons when in cd mode i states no disc which made me think there was one somewhere as someone else said possibly in dash!?

I don't think your car could have come from the factory looking like that until model year 2002. The climate control should be at the top with a single DIN for a plain radio under that and then a cubby hole and there should probably be popout cupholders at the bottom but maybe yours is too late for that. To put the HVAC at the bottom on an model <2002 is in no way as trivial as it looks. It requires cutting out lots of plastic from behind the dash and bolting in a metal frame and replacing the trim and holders for the installed equipment.

I am almost sure that you don't have a changer fitted. That is why the indicator skips back to Cd.
Your options are to change the single Cd player for an indash changer, fit the indash changer in the arm rest compartment or fit a changer in the boot.
The first option doesn't require an additional loom, the other two do.
    Best,
    Frank

So you think this cd console has been altered or added after it was released in 2000?I do have the cup holders at the bottom of it also.someone mentioned to me the the VW lupo has an indash cd player that took all the discs in the one cd slot and presumed that mine might be similar or the same which was another reason i was asking on here.
    Thanks

The unit below the radio is the 6-disc changer. You press the "load" button, then you press one of the numbered buttons 1~6, which should start flashing. At this point, insert a CD, which will be in the position you pressed the button for. Hope this helps you.

The Cd player that Muir has shown is exactly the same as I have in a 2002 SE TDI.It is a single player. The in dash changer has the 6 disc selector buttons on the changer.
The radio channel buttons are used when a changer is mounted remotely.
I have fitted a changer in the boot.

    Best,
    Frank

Here's a link to what you could fit Muir.

Easier than running a loom to the boot.
