Hi can someone tell me, is it worth getting a non-turbo engine remapped?

Im finding my A4 is getting a bit sluggish in its old age and want to do a couple of mods.

I plan to fit a K&N induction kit and a performance exhaust but want to know if remapping will give it back its grunt

    thanks

not really, because you cant get any extra air into the engine to burn much extra fuel, so the potential benefits are limited. you'll probably only get around 5% improvement, which most would regard as not worth the money.

Ive got the same car and have thought about a chip as well - i spoke with a few people and its not really worth doing - i would get a milltek exhaust and k&n then have it tuned to get it all working nicer.

With regards to it being a bit sluggish have you changed the oli and kept the fuel tank and line clean (eg. redex)?

thanks for the posts. I didnt think it was worth paying for a re-map. I think I am going to go for the milltek exhaust and K&N 57i induction kit and possibly have the gearbox oil replaced as my bro had this done on his TT and it made a noticeable difference to performance.

Already had the tank and fuel pipes cleaned after a problem with the engine cutting out and over revving. Thought it was going to be an expensive job and turned out to be just dirt in the system!

I've got the same car (Avant) and the first thing I did was change the change the gearbox & diff oil. It really is worth doing now they are getting on a bit. I also had a Miltek fitted a few weeks back, people say they aren't worth it either due to minimal bhp increase but I disagree, it really brings the engine alive! Before I used to always short shift and rarely went above 3k revs as the engine never really felt happy about it, now it just wants to sing all the way to the redline and you can feel the little bursts of power through the rev range. Sounds great as well!

Does the exhaust sound throaty at low revs?

I actually got a local garage to change the oils (which they sourced from VAG) as I didn't have the tool for getting the sump plug out and it was too cold & wet to crawl around trying.

As for the zorst, it has a 'grown up' sort of sound, not loud or anything, just more 'meaningful' with a low grumble mixed in with the silkyness of a V6. However, after a long motorway journey the whole system heats up and sounds a bit more of a beast. I actually find it a bit too loud inside at a certain point which I believe is something to do with the resonance of my car ie unique to me. In any case, I think I got the last system at Miltek so you probably won't be able to source one when you need it. There is a place in the Midlands who make custom systems at a good price, these were my 2nd choice as others have found them to be very good

Not sure if this is off any use but there is a seller in the USA selling K&N Induction Kits along with chrome intake pipes for £40 plus P+P - The UK sellers are double and don't have the chrome part!

Its one of those deals that seems to be too good to be true but he's got a strong feedback so I guess that suggests something!

I like the looks of that, wonder what it sounds like? I've heard Vectra 2.5 V6's and other V6's that sounds way more grunty than the Audi, I think we need something to unlock that lovely sound.

Have you contacted them about postage to the UK?
