I have spent ages researching this and tried many products. I currently use Tom Tom one GB with the pocket GPS camera databse installed. This is a great system but has it's let down with mobile sites. There so many of them that it seems to be forever warning me of them. You NEED to remember to slow down and not just start ignoring the alerts.

My last car (A Golf) had snooper SLD 920 X jammers in the grill and also a laser track jammer. I only used it once when coming round a bend on dual carriageway in a 30 (Yes, I know 30,. dual carriageway, mad!!!) zone. I was doing 40 and the jammers went bezerk with flasing lights and beepers. I still have no points! It saved me from the camera van that was lurking ahead.

Jammers can lead to being prosecuted if you get caught using them. Currently they are not a banned item in the way a handgun is but they try to use other legislation to prosecute people. Such as peverting the course of justice and obstructing a police officer from carrying out his duties. The 2007 road safety traffic bill will put a total ban on the jamers and also the detectors. Hence I sold my golf with them still in the grill and bought the Tom Tom.

Many of the other GPS devises are badly let down by poor databases. I did own a Morpheous Road Pilot for a while and their database was so bad! There were camera sites that were 3 years old they had missed off. I was paying them £50 a year for me to tell them where the cameras were. Rubbish!

There is a product called Laser park pro that is a set of retro fit parking sensors that by chance use laser to determine how far you are from a wall when parking. Strangely these will also jam a laser gun as well which is great! Never tried one though!

If you do go or a laser jammer for heaven sake get it tested. There are guys on other forums that have police laser guns that will arrange a test. The first laser jammer I bought (for £350) was very inneffective, the replacement they sent me was totally dead and the 3rd one I got (from that company) only jammed if the gun was pointed straight at it. Hence I fited the snooper SLD 920x which was near perfect in it's performance.
