    Hi

I've had the car (1.9 TDi) since January - as it's coming on to winter I thought it best to check the fluid level on the battery.

    It's got a Magic Eye.

The manual says contact the dealer if the colour is green.

The colour of the eye without a torch light is clear - but shine a light and it's green.

    What does green mean?

If it turns out to be a problem - how/where do you 'top up?'

    Many thanks.

    Stephen

I think all batteries are maintenance free, the days of topping-up have gone, if it dies put a new one on

Hi, one of mine has this and the "eye"reads as follows

White / clear - battery is good

    Green - " " need charge

    black - " " buggered

not word for word but thats whats on the leaflet
It might apply to yours so hope it helps.
Mind you be careful as I'm sure one of these I had before was different so if in doubt slow charge it and see if the "eye" changes colour
