I'm changing the Oil in the VR6 this weekend and was thinking about putting some Wynn's Engine flush through to remove any deep seated crud. Anyway I put in a search on Google and all it came up with is people with bloody Rover ZR's and CVH XR3i's that did nothing but complain about the stuff ruining their engine's. In reality I don't really trust their opinions as neither car has the best engine in the first place for reliability/rattling so have any of you VAG owners used and have an opinion about it or can you recommend an alternative?
    Thanks in advance.

don't do it! ... it will worn the engine bearings and in few months time you may be faced with expensive cost of having to change the engine. Best thing you can do for your car is switch off engine ,drain the oil whilst the engine is hot and pretty much everything should come out. get some buy some synthetic oil.... don' t get burned and don' t start engine until you sure the new oil is in the sump.

I`ll say dont do it either,
Just keep changing the oil every 2-3000 miles until its noticably clearer looking.
I changemy oil every 6 k miles and its stays relatively clear/ golden not dirty black.

PS my car is a 1999 Passat 1.8t petrol with 125k miles.

i had a really bad experience with engine flush on an old v8 rangerover. it worked really well, washing years of muck out of the engine. problem was it didnt come out of the sump plug, just stayed in there, blocking the pick up. if an engine does need a flush, i prefer to do 2 oil changes a few miles apart.

I've used forte with no issues, but never tried Wynns. 2 changes close together with quality oil and filter is much safer but some engines NEED a good flush out

If you are using Castrol EDGE i would not bother flushing the engine...Synthetic stuff has very good detergents so will keep the engine clean for longer....

I wouldn't think about it usually, it's just the car's been sitting for a couple of months, so I'm worried it may have settled or congealed where it wouldn't usually in normal use.

I was hoping to get the oil change done tomorrow so is there anywhere you know of that you could grab it off the shelf? I know that Halfords have got that Wynn's on the shelf but on general concensus I think I'll give it a miss.
