Hey, i have a MK3 GOLF VR6 and im wanting to get more power out of it, already has full exhaust system, bmc induction, short shifter, and im not sure if i should turbo it or supercharge it. Does anyone know wat would be best???
And if i was to fit one of these what else would i need to fit to get the best out of them? eg uprated cams? ect..

    Any ideas?????

The age old conundrum turbo or supercharging, personnaly always fancied supercharging BUT turbo is generally easier to get set up from scratch as there are more kits out there but in your case vw have supercharged the G60 unit so parts are already out there that you can adapt. On one forum I've seen descriptions of both being done on the vr6 but can't remember which forum. If you force induct your motor you have to reduce the compression ratio , change the fueling, and rebulid the whole induction track.
There is loads of info on the web but to do properly is a lot of work and alterations to make. Most use stand alone ECU's to allow full dedicated mapping on rollers. All that after a full engine rebuild and balance new pistons and rods (depending on final power and whats in the engine to start with). You need to do the research But most VW engines have been done both ways so start surfing.
GOOD LUCK and keep the forum posted,I'll se if I can find some useful links for you and post them up if I can.
all this is what I've found out as I try to boost my old mazda 626 coupe. It can all be done and some say it ain't that hard!!!! BUt either way it will be well worth it.

Take a leaf out of the Lancia Delta S4 designer's book. I think the conversation went like this:

"I think we should supercharge for low down power"
"No, we should turbocharge for top end power"
    "How about we do BOTH!"
    And that's what they did.

I personally think Charging (pretty much bolt on) is the easiest route to go down with the VR, turbos develop more power but are a lot more effort to fit and set up.

Supercharging VR6's is more common; I believe there are a few bolt on kits out there. Usually results in 250bhp.

Thanks guys, ye well i think i better do a bit more research on differant kits. But i think i may just supercharge it as the turbo sounds alot of work and money. But you never know i may go to town and do both.

Any links to sites of supercharger kits or turbo, and info on everything related to it would be a huge help. cheers.
