My apologies, I didn't realise you wanted one from birth to 4 - I should have read this properly.

No, it's not suitable from birth, but from 20lbs upwards - or when you see fit - we had our daughter in it at about 19lbs, but she could sit unaided and support her own neck from about 6 months - we went to the forward facer early as she didn't like the rear facing seat (and neither did we TBH).

When we got our pushchair, the deal we got meant that it came with a carseat that could clip on to the pushchair, negating the need to buy this Britax type seat - but that was personal choice.

It looks like the seat you've seen on the Mothercare site is not ISOFix, which would explain why it's cheaper - ISOFix is, traditionally, more expensive. If you're not bothered about clipping the carseat on to the pushchair - go with this - ours could, but we only ever did it about 3 times in 9 months.

Ultimately, I'd choose what works for you - What worked for us, won't neccesarily work for you. If you've got twins, then perhaps this would be the best option for you.

Normally with newborn babies they always have to go in a rear facing seat, once they have outgrown their newborn seat then they can be seated facing forwards in an appropriate child seat.

As mentioned in other posts you can purchase seats that go from birth upto about 3-4yrs but they are quite expensive, but saying that if you get a newborn seat then replace that in a years time you will still end up probably spending the same amount of money anyways.

As a word of advice, if you purchase a newborn seat, you dont have to replace this when the babies legs are hanging out of it, the seat only becomes too small when the babies head is sticking over the top of it.

    @JTW,
i may be mistaken but in the above link it says:

Group 1 Forward Facing Car Seat Suitable From 9kg/20lbs To 18kg/40lbs
Age: 9 Months To Approx 4 Years

    Q. Does it mean that it not suitable from birth?? When did you start using it for your girl?

However whats confusing me is that it looks very similar to the one i saw on MotherCare's website:

    http://www.mothercare.com/dp/B001OPY...re#productInfo

Which says its suitable from birth - 4 yrs. Plus its from the same company but is half the price of one above

Because of twins, i will need to buy everything in double pack (which may get a bit costly) but i dont mind

The one you list fits rear facing then turns around basically you have rear facing for upto 6 months then fron facing full harness to about 4 years, then your into normal seatbelts with boosters as they are then heavy enough for them to work.

I suggest you go to Halfords or other reatlier and try the seats out as different seat fit better in different cars, also having 2 together and rear facing in the back is going to fill the car up allot.

PS ISOFix is part of your car, if you don't have it then its not usually retro fitted.

What car do you have at the moment?

A B6 Passat maybe?? In which case it'll have ISOFIX.
Nothing to see here, move along..

Yep, its a B6 with sports seats.

The mothercare 'Britax Si ultra' sound like good value for money but i dont wanna compromise on Child safety.

    @ Aja,
How did you find the seat?
also I am wondering that after fitting how high it gets on the rear seats.

Baby not due for another 6 weeks 6 days and counting so I personally have not had much exposure to it. However, I have fitted to the car (Britax site has excellent video on how to fit) and have no issues. I will also be using a Prince Lionheart seat protector which comes in two stages for rear facing and then on to forward facing. The protector helps with dents and spills.

Friends have used the Britax Si ultra and have nothing but praise, again as the seat adjusts ( as do most) which gives varying levels of support for the young baby's back and neck when used with the new born insert.

With the Maxicosi isofix base it works on the green and red inidicator so you know when everything is fitted as it should be.
I have had a go at fixing this to a mock seat in mothercare world and its easy to do.
If the indicator stays red then something aint fitted correctly, me and my wife are getting to isofix bases for the maxi cosi seats we already have so its a simple case of clip in and clip out of the car no messing with seatbelts etc.
Also the pram we are getting allows the 2 maxi cosi seats to clip straight onto it once the babies have been taked out of the car.

Anyone who might be having twins check out www.icandyuk.com for the pram

I brought the maxicosi cabri-fix and easybase (non isofix) for the front seat of the wife's car, great product pull one handle and lift out the car seat. I got mine from kiddiecare for £144 as mothercare was a lot dearer for the same products (£225!)

My Children don't come in my car, only for special journeys, the Wifes car is like a bomb has hit it...even 5 mins after a a good clean

Its not too bad to start with, but when the food starts then the snacks and juice...good job the wife's car was bought as a runabout and not best...it gets a very hard life...muddy boots, sandy clothes...the list is endless....

Good luck with the babies though, I'm a Twin, I have a friend for life
