I'm wanting to buy a tow bar and electics to fit to my 2003 Audi A4 Avant 130 SE. I spoke to 2 supliers, towsure and towequipe, Towequipe said they had a complete tow kit including electrics, but told me i need bypass relay to protect the engine management system, which was a bit extra. Towsure said i didnot need this in their kit, as the electrics had this built in. they said all i need is the wuk5? i'm confused! Also, do all towbars require the bumper to be cut?
    Cheers

Hi. personally i would go with the bypass relay, i have fitted towbars to 3 passats and an A4 estate and al have been fitted with bypass relays. Towequip relays are quite good i have used these on all cars since 1999. as for the bumper cut, as far as i can see from other posts it would depend on the bar. i have used Westfalia detachables on the last two of my cars and only on the B6 passat estate has the bumper cut been needed. i got around this by purchasing the bumper lower trim with the removable flap where the towbar fits £39.50 from the dealer. hope this helps

Thanks for replying. I've just been told fitting the towbar wiring on the car is a big job because of the cars complicated electrics.. Apparently the wiring has to go along the body of the car to the engine and cannot just be wired into the tail light wirers like i hoped!Where did you connect the wiring in? cheers
