Anyone know what viscosity gear oil is specified for use in a 2005 Golf GT TDI 6-speed manual? It isn't in the manual and everyone I've asked has said something different! Someone said Fuchs is used in the factory; anyone know if this is true? So far I've been recommended 75w90, 75w80 and 80w90.....

Does anybody actually know for sure?

    ????

    Its 5W40 for the 2.0TDI 140..

Some also quote the 0w40, but i would use 5w40 on long life..

I've just changed the oil on my 6 speed manuel in my A6 3.2 FSI... the VAG part number is G 052 911 A1 (75w-90)

I would use Audi own oil as I've been told that the 6 speed manuel doesn't like oils like redline for some reason...

Take a look at your service book. On the first page there should be a white sticker with a load of codes on it! One might say o2x GMV! This is your gearbox code!

If in doult contact your local Audi dealer and give them the reg number and they can tell you the part number you'll need...

    Hope this helps

Thanks for all of your replies. Most helpful

So we agree 75w90 is the correct viscosity gear oil for the 6-speed manual....

    Ok, next questions

Will any fully synthetic 75w90 gear oil be sufficient?
Is there a VAG branded oil?
If VW don't have their 'own' gear oil, does anyone know which brand VW use?

Sorry for all the questions but I've been trying to get this info for weeks.

    Thanks again.
