sorry - this has been covered a lot on the forum but im still confused

the rear brake light and the glow plug warning lights keep flashing and beeping - ive replaced all the bulbs and the brake lights work correctly

if the brake light switch is faulty, surely the brake lights wont work at all?

also, can someone give me an explanation of how to get to the brake light switch on the 99 A4 tdi?

    many thanks

if the brake lights are working and the glow plug light is flashing, then perhaps the glow plugs and/or relay are at fault.
you can check the glow plugs across a battery very easily.
don't hold the dirty end though!!!
    stewy.

is it the bulb out warning, (orange, looks like onion with a cross through it) or brake fault warning flashing (red, exclamation mark)
glow plug light flashing can mean engine/fuel fault

this fault seems to be intermitant - went to the car today and it simply flashed the bulb out warning - so checked all the lights again and the centre rear brake light was sticking on - so have been to GSF, fitted a new brake light switch, which has stopped the sticky centre light, but the brakelight warning and bulb out warning are now flashing, and the glow plug light is now flashing again??? aarrgghh

If you clear the fault does it come back.

Do your brakelights work OK ?
Flashing glowplug light can be a fault with the brakelight switch
