    Hi,

I was wondering about fuel consumption and how Audis in UK are displaying it on onboard computer mpg or liters per km?

My consumption is 6.5 l/100 km in low traffic and 10 in heavy traffic.
That is 37 mpg in low and 22 in high traffic.

It's miles travelled per gallon of fuel not litres used to travel 100km like on the continent.

Higher the mpg figure the better.

Yes and 47.8 mpg is about 4.90 l/100km. Which is amazing!

Not doing anything special, use cruise control a lot - most useful at 30 mph to keep speed down!

Coming up for 5,000 miles -

Computer says 44.8mpg on average since birth.

When the daily commute is kind I easily get 50-54mpg on average for the trip. If the traffic is evil or I get a bit heavy footed on the country roads it dips to 48ish.

Short trips with varying low-ish speed, more like 35 on average.

2.0 tdi se (manual) car has covered 3000 miles(ish) - best ive got is 53mpg on a long slow motorway run at abou 70 mph

for me more typical is about 47mpg with mostly fast a roads/motorway (my commute to work)

dropping to mid 30's with more mixed urban driving

its not dissimilar to the figures i was getting in my old car - a 2005 A3 TDI DSG

quite interesting coming from an old 2.0 tdi (138ps) to the new common rail (143bp) - things ive noticed :

new engine is much smoother at idle and idles at lower revs

new engine is much more ready to climb to higher revs (feels a whole lot more petrol like)

even accounting for heavier car not fully run in its lost a whole lot of that mid range diesil feeling of power - feels quite gutless at times - not helped on motorways/fast a roads by tall 6th gear - have to drop to 5th to get any real acceleration

Do you use imperial gallon or us gallon?

Ahh, offcourse Imperial! I was beginning to wonder if my Audi was spending more fuel. I guess that your fuel is better quality too.
