Trying to change my n75 valve, but it looks totally different. The old one was black, the new one is grey and the outlets are all different.
    Any ideas
    Thanks
    Andy

    Hi
As far as i can gather. It is supposed to operate the wastegate on the turbo, when max boost is reached it opens a valve on the turbo that prevents overboosting.
The symptoms ive got are a trbo that gives loads of boost sometimes and none at others.
I will let you know if it cures it wen i work out how to connect it.

Overboosting is now cured! Turbo is a lot quieter, no surging and a lot more consistent

A race N75? It is just a solenoid controlled by the ECU. Mind you the Eaton ones for the 1.8T petrol supplied by VAG (made in Monaco of all places) are rubbish. I had one fail on my Octavia last year so I fitted a new one. For the last year I have had an intermittent light acceleration pulsing problem that I haven't been able to cure as I could only grab a few minuets here and there (flaming customers!). Last week I thought I would spend a morning on it and stripped the boost system down as I knew it was a boost issue. I bought the full VAG boost pressure leak test system (£400 odd) and the system was as tight as a ducks bottom, so to speak. So I fitted a new throttle body, no different, a new N249 solenoid-no different so in the end I pulled the new N75 off, tested it and the dammed thing was leaking! Under slight acceleration it was popping the wastegate open very slightly. Now the throttle response is perfect under light throttle and on a cruise to Rochester and back I was getting 45mpg at naughty ish speeds where before I would have seen 35mpg. Needles to say VW will be getting the old N75 back as it has a two year warranty-the beauty of genuine parts.

yeah a mate told me bowt it ...apparently they are slightly different in that the dont mess up you boost when you have had the car remapped
    "
After remapping of the ECU on some VAG 1.8 Turbo vehicles there can be a certain amount of surging that can occur as the car is engine is prevented from over boosting. By simply replacing your vehicles standard N75 valve with the 'J' version this should overcome this issue and give a far smoother and more enjoyable drive."

......a will try it n see wat happens ...fingers crossed
