    Hi,
Does the factory subwoofer on the A4 (B7) run off the HU or has a separate amp ?

I want to change the amp and sub.
If it runs off the HU, my rockford amp has a high level input. So can I just disconnect the wiring to the sub on the backshelf, connect it to the high level input of my amp (modifying the connector), and use the power from the 12v connector in the boot ?

    Will that work ?

    Thanks !

I'd like to do the same thing. What were you able to learn about the connection to the B7 Bose subwoofer?

If the car has BOSE then the outputs from the HU are low-level... So you could investigate this - there is a BOSE pin and on some HU's they are also coded.

I think on non-BOSE cars, the system is part amplified...

A non-BOSE A4 will have the rear speakers+sub driven by the amp and the front speakers driven by the head unit. A BOSE car will have all speakers driven by the amp.

I'd be careful about powering an aftermarket amp from the 12v feed already in the boot, much safer to run a proper fused cable back to the battery IMO.

What upgrade speakers? You cant just fit BOSE speakers into a non-BOSE car, you need to add lots of extra parts as well.

If you just want non-OEM speakers then any car hi-fi dealer will have something to suit.

I was hoping that you could just upgrade the speakers to bose, is that not right? What parts do I need for a bose upgrade and how much am I looking at? wheres best to get them from?

I have upgraded standard speakers before and the seals leak water when it buckets down.

To Upgrade to BOSE, you need all door speakers (x8), centre dashboard speaker, rear shelf subwoofer, boot mounted amplifier and the Audiopilot microphone that goes in the interior light. You also need to run an additional set of wires from the radio and microphone back to amplifier.

From Audi you'll get no change from £700, thats not including the wiring. Luckily I found everything on Ebay for £280 all in!!

The BOSE speakers arent compatible with the standard kit as the impedance of the systems is different ( 2 Ohms vs 4 Ohms)
